PHYSICAL PROPERTIES

Apparent density 12% humidity / 690 kg/m3 wood semi heavy to heavy. Teak logs arrive to final destination with less humidity after more then 30 days of transit.  Weight and CBM will be approximately 0.5% to 2% less then in loading port.

Stability Dimension : Coefficient of contraction per volume 0.33% very stable wood relation between contractions 1.88 hardness ( Monnin) 4.1 semi hard wood.

MECHANICAL PROPERTIES

  • Resistance to static flexion 1.020 kg/cm3
  • Elasticity Module 110.000 kg/cm3
  • Compression Resistance 630 kg/cm3
  • Durability: Very durable
  • Hardness
Heart: Not likely to break or snap
Sap : Extremely unlikely to break or snap

MECHANICS

Sawing:The only problems are due to its high content of silica which quickly wears out cutting tools and may cause workers to have allergic reactions.
Drying Process: Very slow to dry. Minimum risk of curves or deformations.
Brushing : Fewer problems then its abrasive condition. Apt to being curved.
Glue: Many difficulties due to high content of oleoresins, especially with use of alkaline glues.
Nailing: Requires pre-made holes.
Finishing : Same difficulties found in application of glue.
